LEAGUE - BASHLEY 0 BRIDGWATER TOWN 4

By Bashley Football Club | Saturday 22nd August 2015

BOTTOM OF THE TABLE CLASH ENDS IN TEARS

Bashley’s winless streak in the league continued today with defeat to fellow
struggles Bridgwater Town, meaning the club now haven’t won a league game
since September 2014. Manager Steve Riley's rebuild of the side continued this
week with under 21 goalkeeper Patrick O'Flaherty signing from AFC
Bournemouth on loan alongside Ollie Dennett from Sparsholt Academy, a
returning from two seasons ago Lewis Blackmore and new to the club Alex
Martin.

Prior to the match Mandy from new sponsors Craftwood banquette seating
specialists presented the club with a cheque for the new home and away kits
while outgoing promoter of the popular BashLotto Alan Wren presented a
defibrillator to the club from some of the funds raised. Chairman Tim Allan said;
"This is a fantastic gesture and a massive help on the medical side which
ensures that Paul Diggins our new club physio is well prepared for a medical
emergency".

In what was an evenly contested battle in midfield, the visitors grabbed the lead
through a scrambled Sam Towner effort just after half hour. Kaine Gazzard
doubled the Bridgwater advantage with his header soon after, with Bashley’s new
signing between the sticks Patrick O’Flaherty perhaps unlucky not to keep it
out.

The home side came out fighting in the second half, with the introduction of
another new signing in Alex Martin, but a second from Gazzard and a late Ross
McNab goal sealed a comfortable three points for the travelling contingent.

The visitors took their opportunities that opened up well while Bashley had very
few chances throughout the match and were unable to make any count.

Next at Bashley Road the Reserves take on Totton & Eling Wednesday evening
at 7:45pm before Mangotsfield United are the opposition next Saturday in The
Emirates FA Cup Preliminary Round at 3:00pm.

Allan added; "We are actively looking for volunteers to help on match days as
stewards, kitchen or bar staff, please call Beryl on 07707 664823 if you would
like to become part of the team."
