LEAGUE - BASHLEY 1 LARKHALL ATHLETIC 5
By Bashley Football Club | Tuesday 11th August 2015
HOME LEAGUE BRIGHT START FIZZLED OUT
Bashley’s first home game of the new 2015/16 season was to sadly end in
disappointment, as a determined second half performance from visiting Larkhall
Athletic claimed all three points for last season’s defeated play-off finalists.
Larkhall weren’t to have it all their own way however, with hosts Bashley proving
more than a match for their opponents in the opening 45 minutes. Both sides
created early chances, before Dammy Bada gave the Bash a 23rd minute lead
with a wonderfully taken looping header.
There were calls for the dismissal of Larkhall ‘keeper Kyle Phillips following an
altercation with Bash forward Clive Makoni, but that was just moments before the
visitors claimed their equaliser, Brad Norris swivelling in the area to smartly fire
beyond Bash shot stopper Rob Gillett.
That’s the way it remained at the interval, but Larkhall largely took control in the
second half. The visitors second goal was sandwiched between chances for both
Makoni and Dan Maher in the gold and black, but that’s as good as it got for the
hosts in what was ultimately a half to forget.
Norris netted his second of the game with some quarter hour left on the clock,
before Damian Jefferies doubled his tally with a clever finish. There was still time
for substitute Dean Griffiths to add gloss to the scoreline, in a game that the
Bash probably didn’t deserve to lose so heavily.
The result means Bashley remain at the foot of the table on goal difference
following a 6 nil defeat on Saturday at the hands of Cinderford Town. Manager
Steve Riley returns from a previously booked holiday to take up the reins hosting
Evesham United at Bashley Road on Saturday, August 15th.
