EX-BASHLEY BOSS RETURNS
Steve Riley left Bashley at the end of the 2011-12 season moving to near
neighbours AFC Totton. Now after almost three years at the Testwood Stadium
helm, Steve Riley returns to Bashley Road eager to rekindle the successful
times after leaving AFC Totton earlier this year in March.
Following a run of poor pre-season results and lack of player signings the new
board at Bashley decided to ask David Stride who had been brought in to
manage the New Forest team at short notice, to step down as first team
The new board acted swiftly to engage the services of Riley the most successful
manager that Bashley has had taking the team previously from the South &
West into the Premier Division.
Riley who had taken a short break from the sport said; “Originally I was happy to
have a break from football but with the chance to come back to manage Bashley
again the pull was too great. The new board have worked hard in the last week to
get things moving in the right direction to take the club forward, it’s my job to get
the team built to take us forward on the field, I have several signings imminent
this week but am looking for players with Southern League experience, they can
contact me on firstname.lastname@example.org. New players are also welcome to
come to training this Tuesday at Pennington School or Thursday at Bashley
Newly elected Chairman Tim Allan said; "David (Stride) has been a pleasure to
deal with, our new board which has only been together for a week made a tough
decision to change things around now rather than the possibility of having more
upheaval during the season. I would like to thank David for his short, brief spell
with us and wish him well for the future."
Meanwhile the clubs AGM was completed on Thursday evening with a new
board being elected made up of Life vice-presidents, and with the recent
resignation from Chairman Angela Speechley-Price, Vice-Chairman Tim Allan
was elected to take over the helm.
Allan added; "Angela came into Bashley 14 months ago with her husband
Graham at a time when the club was hours from folding. We must all be thankful
for their hard work and dedication during their time with us keeping the club
"We are starting a new era at Bashley Road with one aim to bring the good
successful times back to the New Forest, starting with the appointment of Steve
Riley a step that we hope fans, sponsors and players alike will see that the club
Bashley take to the Bashley Road pitch again taking on near neighbours New
Milton Town on Saturday 1st August (KO 3:00pm) for the David Jose Memorial
Trophy. This match is followed by a home pre-season friendly against Salisbury
at 7:45pm on Tuesday 4th August.
